Anticipation has been building, and Rockstar Games has finally delivered a stunning second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, especially following the recent announcement that its launch has been postponed to 2026.
This latest trailer showcases breathtaking action sequences, alongside meticulously crafted character animations and physics that are nothing short of phenomenal. I can confidently state that GTA 6 is the sole game that genuinely embodies ‘next-gen’ gaming, setting a new standard for what we can expect.
In the landscape of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S titles, few games have truly impressed me in terms of leaps in technological advancement. So far, it seems like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with its extraordinary visuals, stands out as another marvel, particularly given that Ubisoft has chosen to abandon last-gen consoles.
However, Rockstar continues to demonstrate that it operates on an entirely different level. The intricate details in the environments, lifelike character models, cutting-edge ray tracing, and even the astonishingly realistic depiction of beer flowing from virtual bottles (seriously, you have to see the trailer) hint at a transformative experience that could redefine open-world gaming.
As a passionate PC gamer, seeing this trailer has me feeling a bit desolate about my gaming rig collecting dust when GTA 6 launches on May 26, 2026.
I’m not going to sit idly by
As someone who predominantly plays on PC, it stings to have a high-performance gaming rig capable of handling the most intensive titles, yet feel compelled to use my PS5.
The frustration comes from the console exclusivity that seems to dictate gaming trends. Let’s face it, GTA 6 launching exclusively on consoles appears to be a strategy aimed at making gamers like myself purchase it not once, but twice: first on console, then again on PC.
GTA 6 is set to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 26, 2026—barring any further delays. You can bet I will be scrambling to grab a copy on day one because waiting for the console release could feel like an eternity. History suggests that PC players might have to wait until 2027 or beyond, reflecting Rockstar’s track record with previous titles.
Consider Grand Theft Auto 5, which arrived on PC two years post its initial console launch; then there’s Red Dead Redemption 2, which took a full year after its console debut. I sincerely hope I’m not tempting fate here, but given the game’s sheer scale and ambitious budget, it’s not unreasonable to fear a wait until 2029—at which point I’ll be almost 30! Mind-blowing!
On a brighter note, I’m fortunate to have my PS5. If you’re considering joining the ranks of day-one players but don’t own one yet, the outlook isn’t promising, especially with potential price hikes looming…
When it comes to US tariffs, the current landscape raises significant price uncertainties in tech. We’ve witnessed Sony recently raise the PS5’s price, alongside Microsoft, which pushed the Xbox Series X to an eye-watering $599.99.
With tariff discussions on the horizon, it’s challenging to predict if the PS5 will see another price increase while still retailing for £429.99 in the UK and AU$749.95 in Australia. Those aren’t exactly considered budget-friendly prices, and yet, they may become much steeper soon.
As I’ve said, I’m fortunate to already have a PS5, but if I were in the market for one, I’d definitely rush to buy one before GTA 6 releases to enjoy the experience from day one. It’s crucial to consider if you want to avoid skyrocketing prices and missing out on the buzz before playing on PC.
