Though LSU softball faced a tough loss against Oklahoma in the second round of the SEC Tournament, their standing in the updated RPI rankings continues to shine brightly.
With an impressive 41 victories under their belt this regular season, the Tigers have secured the No. 4 spot in the nation in RPI. They currently trail only No. 1 Texas A&M and No. 2 Florida within the SEC, which boasts eight of the top ten RPI teams—a testament to the league’s competitive nature.
As the postseason looms, LSU is firmly set to be among the top-16 seeds, ensuring they’ll host a regional in Baton Rouge. However, aspirations remain high, as the team is eyeing a coveted top-eight seed, which would pave the way for a Super Regional at home should they triumph in that first weekend.
Head coach Beth Torina leads a determined squad that hasn’t graced the World Series stage since 2017. Last year, LSU made it to the Super Regional at Stanford but fell short in the pivotal three-game series against the Cardinal. Fans and players alike are anxious to see what the future holds, as the Tigers’ fate will be revealed during the 2025 NCAA Division I Selection Show this Sunday at 6:00 PM CT, broadcasted live on ESPN2.
