In an exciting development, Paramount Pictures has just launched the latest trailer for its upcoming animated/live-action film. Set to harken back to the cherished memories of childhood, this project revolves around the iconic Smurfs characters, created by the renowned Belgian comic artist Peyo. Teaming up with Domain Entertainment, Paramount Animation promises an enchanting cinematic experience, produced by the talents of Ty Ty and Jay Brown.

A highlight of the film is Rihanna, who joins the cast as the beloved Smurfette. Not only does she lend her voice to this iconic character, but she has also contributed a new song titled “Friend of Mine” to the film’s soundtrack, which debuts this Friday. You can pre-save the track HERE. The animation merges the delightful essence of classic Saturday morning shows with cutting-edge 3D animation. The narrative features a mysterious force that abducts Papa Smurf, driving a quirky troop of Smurfs to journey through both their animated haven and the live-action world.

Directing this vibrant project is Chris Miller, known for his contributions to films like Puss in Boots and Shrek the Third. The screenplay is penned by Pam Brady, recognized for her notably humorous works like Hot Rod and Team America: World Police. The star-studded cast includes not only Rihanna as Smurfette but also talents like Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, and James Corden, complemented by the likes of Kurt Russell and John Goodman. Production credits also go to Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, and Ryan Harris.

This new venture follows previous films, including the 2011 adaptation The Smurfs, its sequel The Smurfs 2, and Smurfs: The Lost Village. For those new to this whimsical world, the Smurfs are small, blue, humanoid creatures living in a charming village characterized by mushroom-shaped homes, guided by the wise Papa Smurf. Their escapades often include expanding their village and outwitting the irritable sorcerer, Gargamel, alongside his cunning feline sidekick, Azrael. Originally envisioned in comic form by Peyo, these characters made their animated television debut in the 1980s, quickly capturing the hearts of audiences everywhere.

Be sure to save the date for the cinema release of Smurfs on July 18, 2025; this adventure promises to be filled with joy and heartfelt moments.
