A little over a year following its launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the acclaimed Stalker trilogy is gearing up for a major revival with an Enhanced Edition set to delight fans of this post-apocalyptic shooter series across both modern consoles and PC.

Dubbed Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition, this forthcoming update from the developer GSC Game World aims to revitalize the trio of titles: the seminal Shadow of Chornobyl (2007), its follow-up Clear Sky (2008), and the intense Call of Prypiat (2009). Players can expect a range of technological upgrades and enhancements designed to leverage the capabilities of today’s gaming systems.

Each version will receive significant visual improvements, including enhanced lighting effects like dynamic godrays, better screen space reflections, and global illumination techniques. Additional features encompass advanced shaders for water and wet surfaces, redesigned skyboxes, upscaled textures, and entirely refreshed 3D models for characters, weapons, and environments. There’s also an improved weapon field-of-vision and cinematic sequences rendered in 4K, adding a new narrative dimension and elevating immersion to exciting new heights.

Console gamers will benefit from features like keyboard and mouse support, Mod.io integration, and a variety of graphics settings. The Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PS5 Pro will offer multiple modes, including Quality (native 4K at 30 frames per second), Balanced (upscaled 4K at 40fps), Performance (upscaled 4K at 60fps), and Ultra Performance (upscaled 2K at 120fps). On the other hand, Xbox Series S will present a Quality option at native 2K/30fps, Balanced at upscaled 2K/40fps, and a Performance mode set to 1080p/60fps.

For PC users, GSC Game World is introducing cloud save functionalities, comprehensive controller support, integration with Steam Workshop, and optimization tailored for the Steam Deck. You can discover detailed system requirements on the Enhanced Edition FAQ.

In a great nod to existing players, those who own the original Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy or any standalone versions of Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky, or Call of Prypiat on Xbox Series X/S or PS5 can upgrade to the Enhanced Edition at no additional cost starting May 20. Similarly, PC users who have the original titles will also receive free upgrades while retaining access to the original versions.

For those new to the franchise, the Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition will be available for $39.99 USD (or local equivalent) on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, also launching on May 20. Each individual title can be acquired for $19.99.
