This 26-year-old defensive back took it upon himself to inspire the Cleveland Browns rookie just ahead of Shedeur’s inaugural pro practice on Friday. Lake underscored the message that, just like him, Sanders has the potential to thrive as a late-round pick, despite having a famous father.

Lake, whose father is the legendary All-Pro Carnell Lake, found his own path by being selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Yet, he rose through the ranks to become a team captain and one of the standout players on his squad.
Talking to Nova Play, Lake expressed his unwavering belief in Sanders’ ability to achieve similar success.
“Sure, the draft might not have unfolded as he envisioned, but remember, all it takes is one team willing to take a chance on you,” he said. “I’ve lived it myself. If I were face-to-face with him, I’d share this same encouragement.”
“This is your moment to demonstrate your talent and make believers out of those who doubted you. You just need to let your performance speak for itself, which is what you’ve done throughout your journey.”
Quentin expressed his admiration for Sanders’ impressive performances at Jackson State and Colorado, fueling his confidence that the 23-year-old quarterback will shine in the NFL.
“He’s consistently overcome tremendous odds at every turn, and I believe there’s no exception when it comes to stepping into the league,” Quentin said with firm belief.
As Quentin eagerly anticipates watching Sanders during his initial workout on Friday, he also has some plans of his own. Following a mini-camp in Hawaii next month, he intends to host a workout for kids at his beloved high school, Mater Dei, sometime in July.
