The recent uproar involving “hateful fan comments” aimed at Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky during their commanding 93-58 win is just one facet of the turbulence afflicting the Indiana Fever this season.

In a shocking turn of events, Front Office Sports has unveiled a serious lawsuit filed against Phoenix Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein. Gene Traylor, the former director of safety, security, and risk management for the Suns, alleges racial discrimination and asserts he was demoted for raising concerns about workplace conditions.

The drama doesn’t stop there. Traylor’s lawsuit goes even further, alleging that Bartelstein, who is married, engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Sophie Cunningham, a recent addition to the Fever’s roster, while she was still playing for the Phoenix Mercury, the Suns’ WNBA counterpart.

Court documents disclose that Traylor alerted Bartelstein to allegations made by Cornelius Craig, vice president of security and risk management for the Suns, claiming he was also involved in an affair with Cunningham.

Cunningham, a 28-year-old standout player, missed the Fever’s season opener due to an ankle injury. She was traded to Indiana on January 31, coinciding with the initial whirlwind of speculation regarding the alleged affair.

To date, neither Bartelstein nor Cunningham has commented on these impactful accusations. Nevertheless, a Suns spokesperson attempted to discredit Traylor’s credibility in a recent statement to ESPN.

“The Supreme Court of Arizona has sanctioned attorney Sheree Wright multiple times for various violations of professional conduct,” the spokesperson stated. “Currently, she is on two-year probation with the State Bar of Arizona.”

This spokesperson went on to assert, “The claims presented by Ms. Wright and her client are not just preposterous; they’re categorically unfounded.”

This unfolding lawsuit is part of a broader pattern of legal troubles for the Suns, who have faced multiple allegations since November, including claims of a hostile work environment and racial discrimination against various employees within the organization.
