Fans of the Marvel universe have just been treated to an exhilarating glimpse of *Ironheart*, with the release of both a captivating teaser trailer and a striking poster. This upcoming series stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a brilliant young inventor whose cutting-edge iron suits rival the best within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Riri was previously introduced in 2022’s *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever*, which was directed by Ryan Coogler.
Coogler expressed that *Ironheart* holds a unique significance in the realm of comic book history. He noted the character’s debut by Brian Michael Bendis in 2016, portraying her as a legacy figure to Iron Man. “In the comics, Riri shared a meaningful relationship with Tony Stark. She was a top student at MIT, coming from a very different background than him. They found common ground in their mutual aspiration to create positive change. Over time, Riri forges her own identity as Ironheart, with writers like Eve Ewing further shaping her narrative in Chicago,” he detailed.
Set in the wake of *Wakanda Forever*, *Ironheart* centers around Riri’s journey in her native Chicago, where she dreams of making a significant impact. Her mastery in creating iron suits is awe-inspiring, yet it leads her into a complex relationship with the mysterious Parker Robbins, also known as “The Hood,” played by Anthony Ramos. The series boasts an impressive ensemble, including Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White. Chinaka Hodge serves as the show’s head writer, with direction by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. Among the executive producers are prominent figures like Kevin Feige and Ryan Coogler. The score for the series is being composed by Dara Taylor. Produced in partnership with Proximity Media, *Ironheart* is set to launch on Disney+ on **June 24, 2025**.
Dominique Thorne has expressed her enthusiasm for the role, revealing that she recently had a conversation with Robert Downey Jr. about their “iron” legacies. Reflecting on this exchange, Thorne shared, “We spoke shortly after filming, and he offered some really encouraging insights about my path. It was uplifting to hear he’s rooting for me — it makes you feel like you’re honoring Iron Man’s legacy.” She also highlighted the contrasts between her character Riri and Tony Stark, saying, “While Tony operated from a place of wealth, Riri is practically starting from scratch. What she accomplishes under those circumstances is truly extraordinary.”
