The answers for today’s Strands, game #434, are…

  • FLOWERS
  • BREAKFAST
  • PARTY
  • HUGS
  • CARDS
  • DRAWINGS
  • SPANGRAM: MOTHERS DAY

  • My rating: Easy
  • My score: Perfect

Although I’m currently situated in the UK, where Mother’s Day is celebrated earlier in the year, it didn’t take me long to catch the theme today. I stumbled upon FLOWERS first, and with ‘Happy…’ as the theme clue, it was pretty unmistakable.

Locating the remaining words proved to be trickier. I was particularly surprised by DRAWINGS—until I recalled that kids often present their mothers with gifts on this day too, not just the older generation like myself.

I can’t recall ever preparing BREAKFAST for my mum on MOTHER’S DAY; she usually enjoys porridge in the morning, and let’s be real, that doesn’t quite fit the celebratory mood. “Happy Mother’s Day, mum – here’s your bowl of warmed grains!” I believe she would much rather receive FLOWERS and HUGS.

How did you perform today? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
