Osgood Perkins, acclaimed for his work on the film Longlegs, is carving out a distinctive niche within the horror landscape through an exciting new collaboration with NEON. Together, they have established a brand-new production company called Phobos. Under this partnership, Perkins and his colleague Chris Ferguson have secured a first-look agreement with NEON, which is poised to usher in a range of thrilling content tailored for horror aficionados. As noted by Variety, this arrangement signifies that “Perkins and Ferguson will collaborate on future projects, with NEON as the channel for films penned and directed by Perkins, as well as those he produces for other filmmakers.” Additionally, NEON will take charge of the U.S. theatrical distributions and international sales for these projects, positioning itself as a crucial player in their cinematic quests.

In a thrilling development, NEON has unveiled an eccentric promotional video for Perkins’ anticipated film, Keeper, now available on their YouTube channel. This captivating and surreal teaser promises to catch the eye and set the tone for what’s to come.

The video features a mesmerizing loop, portraying a young individual seemingly entranced as they furiously scrawl on a notepad. The unsettling sounds of a pen gliding over paper resemble a disquieting form of ASMR. Personally, I find the noise of a pen dragging on paper particularly discomforting—especially when it’s running low on ink, as it sends an involuntary shiver down my spine. The footage rapidly shifts to a harrowing scene, showing a woman with a blood-smeared face gasping for breath. Subsequently, viewers catch a glimpse of an isolated cabin, accompanied by another anguished scream that echoes ominously.

Directed by Perkins, Keeper is brought to life through a script written by Nick Lepard, featuring stand-out performances from Tatiana Maslany (The Monkey, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) and Rossif Sutherland (Possessor). The chilling narrative follows a couple embarking on a romantic escape to a remote cabin. However, things take a dark turn when Malcolm (Sutherland) unexpectedly returns to the city, leaving Liz (Maslany) alone to confront a malevolent force that threatens her very existence.

Prior to this, Lepard’s earlier endeavor Dangerous Animals gained attention for its quirky promotional website that captured public interest, inviting visitors to call 855-800-CHUM for a unique opportunity to meet Captain Tucker, played by Jai Courtney. This site sparked lively discussions among users, with a customer review section that displayed contrasting views; some praised their experience with Tucker, while others expressed unease over friends who had reportedly vanished post-visit. It does raise a few eyebrows, doesn’t it?

Now that the eerie Keeper trailer is live on NEON’s YouTube channel, we’re curious to know your thoughts. What do you think the creator in the video is trying to convey? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
