The much-anticipated collaboration between McDonald’s and Pokémon has officially launched in the UK, centering around some of the franchise’s most beloved Dragon-type characters along with a nostalgic return of collectible Pokémon cards that have enchanted countless fans over the years.
To promote this exciting partnership, a charming animation showcases the endearing Dragonite soaring above a lively cityscape within the Pokémon universe before landing at a McDonald’s restaurant.
Is this a sign that McDonald’s has truly entered the Pokémon universe? Many are pondering if this marks a new venture, reminiscent of earlier collaborations like the one that occurred when a certain U.S. president visited China. However, these questions remain unanswered for now.
What is abundantly clear is that each Happy Meal now comes with several Pokémon cards inside, a change that has historically ignited considerable excitement among fans. This overwhelming interest has, at times, led both dedicated collectors and opportunistic resellers to stockpile supplies, prompting some retailers to impose purchase restrictions.
The latest assortment of Pokémon cards features a variety from the Dragon-type series, including iconic names like Charizard, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Quagsire, Hatenna, and Eevee—though interestingly, not all of them belong to the Dragon category. Nonetheless, fans can look forward to encountering genuine Dragon-type Pokémon such as Dragonite, Rayquaza, Drampa, Hydreigon, Roaring Moon, Miraidon, Koraidon, and Dragapult among the offerings.
This thrilling campaign first debuted in the United States earlier this year and has now made its way to the UK, where it will continue until June 17th or until supplies run out.
