In a bold move that could reshape his career, media star Marcus Kwikiriza has opened up about his aspirations to dive into the world of politics. He’s eyeing the Rukungiri Municipality parliamentary seat for the forthcoming 2026 elections, a decision that could resonate deeply with his supporters.
Currently at the helm of the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA), Kwikiriza took to X to share his thoughts, igniting a wave of excitement among his followers.
“I am seriously toying with the idea of putting my hat in the race for the 12th Parliament. Rukungiri.”
Kwikiriza’s decision to seek office springs from a deep-rooted concern for Rukungiri’s development trajectory. With immense untapped potential, he believes the area deserves more.
In a previous discussion thread, Kwikiriza didn’t shy away from addressing his discontent with the slow pace of progress within the district.
“Rukungiri has a lot of potential, but I noticed we are one of the least developed districts. No known school or university, no decent hotel, and while medical services are adequate, there’s much room for improvement. We aren’t even recognized for a specific crop that is uniquely ours.”
