Way to go, furry friend! Kelsey Grammer has officially cemented his place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Recently, the actor returned to his iconic role as Dr. Hank McCoy, better known as Beast, in 2023’s The Marvels—a character he last embodied in the 2006 film, X-Men: The Last Stand. Exciting news surfaced last month that Grammer is set to reprise his role once more in the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. However, if you were hoping to catch him in full Beast attire at upcoming conventions, think again!
During his appearance on Literally! with Rob Lowe, Grammer humorously recounted how he received a call while working on The Marvels. He shared, “During [the making of The Marvels], somebody called me and said, ‘Would you come down and think about just doing a little…motion capture…We’re going to put you at the end of the movie in one of those little easter egg things.” The idea of avoiding the grueling three-hour makeup sessions of yesteryears was a significant perk for him, and honestly, he couldn’t be happier. “Years ago, they offered me – it was a sizable chunk of change – to dress up as Beast and put all that crap on again and go walk around [a comic convention]. I said, ‘No, that’s insane!’…I have since done a convention or two,” he chuckled, noting his only recent appearance was linked to his role in Star Trek, a thrilling one-off in an episode of The Next Generation.
Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to his Beast cameo in The Marvels, Marvel Studios quickly followed up with another exciting offer for Avengers: Doomsday. But when pressed for juicy details about the film, Grammer kept his lips sealed, teasing, “I’ve had a preliminary introduction to the idea. They’re still very secretive about the script.” It’s not surprising, given Marvel’s tight-lipped approach to their projects.
The excitement doesn’t stop there! Joining Kelsey Grammer in Doomsday will be a stellar lineup: Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen taking on Magneto, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler. Additionally, there are whispers of a standalone X-Men movie in the works, with the talented Jake Schreier, director of Thunderbolts, in talks to take the helm. Mark your calendars, folks; Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1st, 2026.
