With a remarkable reputation in action cinema, the John Wick franchise owes a significant part of its success to the skillful portrayal by Keanu Reeves. Yet, what sets these films apart is the extraordinary stunt choreography that continually raises the bar for action sequences. The newest installment, Ballerina, promises to uphold this tradition of excellence.
In March, I had the thrilling opportunity to attend the Ballerina 87eleven Stunt Day, organized by Nova Play. The excitement among the group of journalists and influencers was palpable as we gathered, eager to immerse ourselves in the action world of the film. We were soon treated to an adrenaline-pumping showcase featuring Ana de Armas, who displayed her prowess with a series of intricate fight scenes using ice skates.
Diving deeper into the essence of Ballerina, we engaged in a stimulating training session with Fight Coordinator Jeremy Marinas. The professionalism of the 87eleven team was unmistakable as they led us through various stunt techniques, amplifying the energy in the room. Driven by my previous experiences with the group, I embraced this chance to be a part of the excitement!
Below are a few pictures capturing moments from this exhilarating stunt training:
The John Wick series is particularly special to me, and participating in the stunt day has only heightened my anticipation for Ballerina. This new chapter features an exceptional cast, including Ana de Armas alongside Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, and Norman Reedus. It is a bittersweet reminder of Lance Reddick’s final role, adding depth to this upcoming addition to the beloved franchise.
Save the date: From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is set to premiere in theaters on June 6th, bringing the thrill back to audiences everywhere.
