In a compelling continuation of their dynamic collaboration, Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas are reuniting for Eli Roth’s upcoming project, Ballerina, adding another layer to their impressive filmography. Their shared history began with Roth’s 2015 thriller, Knock Knock, and now the director is charting a new course in horror via his independent production company, The Horror Company. This ambitious initiative aims to amplify Roth’s reputation as a master of spine-chilling narratives.
As reported by Variety, Roth is embarking on an exciting collaboration with Construction Film, a German production company co-founded by actress Veronica Ferres, known for her standout roles in The Bricklayer and the much-anticipated reboot of Red Sonja. Their collaboration will kick off with a German-language remake of Knock Knock. While Roth won’t be at the helm for this particular project, his enthusiasm for the horror genre is palpable as he seeks to push stylistic boundaries.
Roth’s future slate is nothing short of riveting. He is currently gearing up to direct Final Cut, a giallo-inspired thriller that will star Ferres, among others. His upcoming slasher film, The Ice Cream Man, has already garnered attention; Roth boldly claims it will be his “most terrifying and insane” project to date. Furthermore, speculation is swirling about a potential television adaptation of the cult classic Hostel, possibly featuring the talented Paul Giamatti, further expanding Roth’s horror universe.
In a recent press statement, Roth shared his fervent vision for The Ice Cream Man:
“This idea has been brewing in my mind for what feels like an eternity. Many studios were hesitant about my initial drafts, but I believe the time has come to explore deeper into horror than I ever have. I’m intent on creating what I think will be the most chilling and outrageous film to date… Projects like Ice Cream Man are exactly why we established The Horror Section: to produce unrated, boundary-pushing experiences that horror aficionados will discuss for years. I feel incredibly fortunate to partner with organizations like MCT and gain the support of investors in The Horror Section.”
