EA has officially confirmed that the next installment of the Battlefield franchise is set to launch before next April. A full reveal is on the horizon this “summer,” following several months of exclusive playtests that had players buzzing with excitement.
This update comes directly from EA CEO Andrew Wilson during the company’s Q4 and financial year 2025 earnings call. He expressed confidence in EA’s robust lineup, stating, “As we look to the future, we’re confident in our ability to execute across a deep pipeline,” highlighting the upcoming Battlefield reveal as a crucial milestone for the next generation of blockbuster games.
EA has reiterated its commitment to releasing Battlefield within the previously stated FY26 window, meaning fans can expect it to drop before April of next year. Back in February, Wilson hinted that the release could potentially be pushed back if “some things happening in the year” indicated it wasn’t an optimal time—leading many to speculate about the impending release of GTA 6, now set for May next year.
In a bid to win back the community’s favor following the underwhelming response to Battlefield 2042—one of the lowest-rated games on Steam post-launch in 2021—EA aims for this new entry to be the “biggest [series entry] we’ve ever made.” To support this ambition, they have been conducting invite-only playtests since March to gather player feedback and fine-tune the experience.
While numerous leaks have surfaced from these playtests, official details remain scarce. What is known is that the newest installment will return to modern-day settings, reintroducing classic classes and focused maps after the controversial changes in Battlefield 2042. Some hints from last year’s concept art suggest the series may venture into Gibraltar. With a full reveal expected this “summer”—potentially at the Summer Game Fest—fans won’t have to wait long for more information.
Before that reveal, EA has announced plans to expand Battlefield Labs testing globally. Starting in May, more players from Europe, North America, and selected areas of Asia will be invited to participate. These sessions will introduce new content while continuing to refine weapon balancing, damage values, and “movement and combat pacing mechanics.”
On a separate note, EA has also confirmed that the eagerly awaited free-to-play Skate reboot is on track for release before April 2026. Developer Full Circle previously reaffirmed their commitment to an early access rollout in 2025, though a specific date is still awaiting announcement.
