Long Before Embracing the Judge’s Role

As the gears turn on Diddy’s trial, Judge Arun Subramanian is poised to play a pivotal role, with proceedings set to commence on Monday. Yet, before donning the robe, he was a compassionate civil attorney, deeply invested in the lives of his clients.
In an exclusive interview, we connected with Mary and Joel Rich, a couple who once turned to Arun for guidance in a lawsuit against Fox News. Their case emerged after the network falsely accused their son of leaking thousands of Democratic emails to Wikileaks back in 2016.
After settling their case with Fox News, the Rich couple felt a deep gratitude toward their legal team. They decided a dinner in New York City was in order to express their appreciation, and Arun was quick to accept the invitation—with one little condition.
According to the Riches, Arun was delighted at the prospect of dinner but insisted on footing the bill. Despite their attempts to share the expense, he remained steadfast in his generous offer.
The dinner shindig included around ten to twelve attendees at a chic Italian restaurant in New York, where laughter bubbled over as wine flowed freely and delicious courses made their rounds.
The Riches were unsure of the final check amount but guessed it was quite steep, a kind gesture emblematic of who Arun Subramanian truly is—a man of integrity, grace, and respect.
Mary and Joel emphasized how Arun treated them like family, always looking out for their best interests. Mary expressed a desire to see him again, longing for a warm hug to show her appreciation.

Since jury selection began for Diddy’s trial, witnesses have spotted Arun making his way to the courthouse, his demeanor as relatable as any ordinary citizen, headphones in place, with no airs of a federal judge.
With a love for karaoke and a knack for ordering his judicial robes online, Subramanian is well-regarded among his peers. His calm and playful presence in the courtroom has been a comforting influence on jurors throughout last week.
Hailing from Pittsburgh and raised by immigrant parents, Judge Subramanian has often spoken of the significance of family, sharing heartfelt anecdotes about them during the Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing for Judicial Nominees back in December 2022.
This upcoming trial marks a defining moment in Judge Subramanian’s career, as Diddy stands accused of five serious charges, including two counts of sex trafficking, two counts related to transportation for prostitution, and a count of racketeering.

Arick Fudali, an attorney advocating for an anonymous government witness along with two of Diddy’s accusers, expressed eagerness to explore the evidence both sides wish to present. Ultimately, these crucial decisions will rest in Judge Subramanian’s capable hands.
