As a devoted fan of BoJack Horseman, the announcement of Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s new Netflix series, Long Story Short, has me buzzing with excitement. The show is set to premiere on August 22, and I simply can’t wait!
In my books, BoJack Horseman deserves a top spot among Netflix’s finest. What started as a seemingly lighthearted animated series quickly morphed into a profound exploration of life itself, leaving a lasting impact on me. It’s a show I often revisit, eager to relive its emotional rollercoaster.
Bob-Waksberg masterfully blends humor with serious themes, which made watching BoJack an experience that had me laughing one moment and wiping away tears the next. It’s a distinctive narrative style that leaves viewers yearning for more, so expectations are sky-high for his next offering.
While we have a few months to go until Long Story Short becomes available, the early buzz has me optimistic. And if you’re itching for some more sophisticated animated fare in the meantime, I recommend diving into these four standout series from Adult Swim, including one that boasts a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
What Gets Me Excited About Long Story Short
As a passionate follower of BoJack, the release date is firmly marked in my calendar. However, there’s so much to look forward to beyond just the date.
The new series promises to trace the lives of one family through the years, offering an intimate glimpse into their growth and development. Given the rich character arcs we witnessed in BoJack, I anticipate nothing less than a deeply engaging experience with Long Story Short.
Per Tudum, we’ll “follow the Schwooper siblings from childhood to adulthood and back again, chronicling their triumphs, disappointments, joys, and compromises.” This premise suggests a heart-wrenching journey, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
Add to this a stellar voice cast, featuring Lisa Edelstein, Paul Reiser, Ben Feldman, Abbi Jacobson, Max Greenfield, Angelique Cabral, Nicole Byer, along with guest voices from Dave Franco and Michaela Dietz, and you’ve got all the ingredients for success.
I’m particularly eager to hear Dave Franco’s performance, especially as he’ll soon star in the body horror film Together. With such a talented cast at the helm, I have no doubt that this series will shine brightly.
With August still a ways off, it seems like the ideal opportunity to revisit BoJack Horseman. If you need me, I’ll be rewatching “Free Churro” and shedding a few tears—it truly stands out as the finest episode in the series, in my opinion.
