- Ex-WordPress users report high satisfaction after switching CMS
- Instances of plugin issues have decreased, with limited cost increases reported
- The transition to new systems was largely seamless for most users
A recent investigation by Liquid Web sheds light on the post-WordPress landscape, revealing that many users find their new content management systems (CMS) to be quite rewarding.
While conversations around transitioning from one CMS to another often emphasize potential downsides, the findings highlight the positive outcomes that businesses are experiencing after making the switch.
From the surveyed ex-WordPress users, a substantial 87% reported they are pleased with their new CMS, with nearly 70% indicating that their expenses remained stable after the move. Additionally, it’s noteworthy that 72% have no intention of returning to WordPress. The favored choices among these users included Shopify at 42%, with Wix and Squarespace following at 38% and 6%, respectively.
Escaping Plugin Fatigue
One of the prominent grievances among WordPress users — the so-called “plugin fatigue” — appears to have eased for many. A significant 78% of respondents noted improvements in this area after their migration. Conversely, 22% felt their fatigue had worsened, though for most, the relief from constant updates and compatibility struggles was evident.
The transition experience itself proved less intimidating than many had feared. Only 23% faced difficulties with migrating their content, which means a commendable 77% navigated their transition without major setbacks.
In a similar vein, most respondents found the new CMS relatively easy to learn, with only 21% missing certain previous features.
“The configuration of a CMS can vastly enhance user experience,” commented Tiffany Bridge, Product Manager for eCommerce Applications at Liquid Web. “Often, users leave WordPress seeking simplicity, only to discover that the real challenge lies with how the CMS is configured rather than the platform itself. The quality of hosting plays a crucial role, transforming experiences from tedious to streamlined.”
While WordPress continues to hold sway for its versatility, the recent survey clearly illustrates that switching doesn’t equate to a sacrifice in quality. For a growing number of users, this change signifies a shift towards a more efficient, manageable online presence.
The data paints a picture of a rising tide of businesses that have embraced this transition with enthusiasm, showing little inclination to return to their former setup.
