After a long wait, horror aficionados are thrilled to learn that the latest entry in the famed franchise, now officially titled Final Destination: Bloodlines, is set to make its cinematic debut. Producer Craig Perry hinted at a 2025 release, perfectly timed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original film that started it all. Adding to the excitement, this installment will even be shown in IMAX! Don’t miss the premiere this Friday, when Final Destination: Bloodlines promises to deliver its signature chills and thrills. Helmed by the creative minds Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously brought us the captivating 2018 flick Freaks as well as the live-action rendition of Kim Possible, this film aims to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Lipovsky recently shared his enthusiasm with SFX magazine, focusing on the unpredictable narrative they’ve crafted.
The storyline centers on Stefanie, a college student tormented by a sinister recurring nightmare, as she sets out to find an individual who might help stop the horrific fate looming over her family. With an R-rating, audiences can expect disturbingly intense scenes of violence and strong language, solidifying the film’s commitment to delivering raw emotional experiences.
The cast is equally impressive, featuring the iconic Tony Todd alongside emerging talents like Brec Bassinger, Richard Harmon, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, and others. This mix of seasoned and fresh faces adds a captivating dynamic to the film, promising a memorable viewing experience.
During his conversation with SFX, Lipovsky shed light on a particularly fascinating element of the plot: “Beginning with a chilling premonition that unfolds in 1969, we are treated to the trademark cascade of deaths characteristic of a Final Destination film. However, the shift to a contemporary setting is designed to take many viewers by surprise. We’ve infused unpredictability throughout the narrative, especially regarding who will meet their demise and how. Expect the unexpected as the story unfolds!”
The Final Destination franchise has always carved a niche for itself, expertly blending horror with elements that keep fans guessing. As a devoted follower of this series since its inception in the early 2000s, anticipation has been building within me, particularly after the climactic finale of Final Destination 5 in 2011.
Notably, Jon Watts, the innovative director known for Spider-Man: Homecoming and its sequels, is taking on the role of producer for Final Destination: Bloodlines. He’s collaborating closely with Perry, Dianne McGunigle, and Sheila Hanahan Taylor. The initial storyline was crafted by Watts himself, and the script has since been adeptly shaped by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick.
