- Ecovacs has unveiled the Deebot X9 Pro Omni robot vacuum
- Features a self-cleaning Ozmo roller mop along with adjustable brush rolls
- Introduces innovative ‘Blast’ suction technology
The latest offering from Ecovacs, the Deebot X9 Pro Omni, aims to change the way we clean hard floors—a challenge familiar to me as Nova Play’s Homes Editor. Throughout my experience testing multiple robotic vacuums, I have consistently found it difficult to locate one that excels at thoroughly mopping hard surfaces.
A frequent limitation of traditional robotic mopping devices is their practice of cleaning mop pads only at the end of their cycles, resulting in the re-spreading of dirt rather than its thorough removal.
To resolve this issue, Ecovacs has introduced the state-of-the-art Ozmo roller mop. Unlike many high-end robot vacuums that rely on static D-shaped mop pads or dual rotating discs, this latest Deebot model features a roller enveloped in mopping material.
This innovative roller exerts pressure while it revolves, reaching out towards the edges of rooms for effective cleaning. A smart scraper continually cleans the roller of dirty water and debris, ensuring that fresh water is always available for optimal mopping.
This effective design draws inspiration from modern vacuum technology and has the potential to significantly improve a robot vacuum’s ability to handle messes. The system first appeared in the Deebot X8 Pro Omni, launched in early 2025, and has now been successfully integrated into the new Deebot X9 Pro Omni, as well as a sibling model, the T80 Omni.
Although the concept of roller mops is still developing, Ecovacs is not alone in exploring this design; similar models can be found in products like the Eureka J20 and Narwal Flow. However, the X9 Pro Omni sets itself apart by combining the Ozmo mop with a liftable brush roll, addressing a common drawback of hybrid robotic vacuums.
Often, damp brush rolls can create a mess as moisture and debris coalesce into undesirable gunk. In this new model, the brush rolls can elevate, ensuring that no mop-related mess is transferred to carpets during the vacuuming process.
3, 2, 1, blast off
The X9 Pro Omni showcases a distinctive ‘BLAST’ system, standing for ‘Boosted Large-Airflow Suction Technology’, designed to amplify suction power while reducing energy consumption.
“With the BLAST system, we revamped the airflow design completely,” stated Michelle Jones, the US associate brand marketing director for Ecovacs, during a discussion with Nova Play.
“Instead of merely increasing motor wattage to enhance suction—often leading to noisier operation and quicker battery drain—the BLAST system employs an advanced approach. It incorporates a new SuperBoost battery, larger air inlets, optimized ducts, and specially designed fan blades that facilitate smoother airflow, yielding consistent suction with minimized noise.”
Jones believes the BLAST system could represent a significant leap in performance and usability—especially beneficial for homes with pets, carpets, or frequent foot traffic. We will provide comprehensive feedback after rigorous testing of the device.
Launching alongside this model is the T80 Omni, which boasts the Ozmo roller mop but does not feature the lifting brush roll or the advanced Blast suction technology. Similarly positioned in the premium category, it is retailing for $1,199.99 but is on sale for $1,079.99 through the same platforms.
