In a striking declaration that has the Ugandan music scene abuzz, artist A Pass has boldly asserted that his lyrical skills rival those of the late Mowzey Radio, an enduring icon in Uganda’s vibrant music culture. This intriguing discussion erupted after a fan on social media provocatively asked who was the more accomplished lyricist. A Pass, known for his candidness, readily acknowledged Mowzey Radio’s extraordinary talent while simultaneously championing his own lyrical abilities with unwavering confidence.
“It’s hard to compare art and artists because it’s all subjective. If Radio were alive today, it would be a different story. He was an incredible storyteller and bard. My artistry diverges in that I blend storytelling with rap elements, making me distinct. I can’t be compared to any other Ugandan artist because I excel in what they do and venture into realms they don’t.”
Mowzey Radio, who sadly passed away in 2018, is celebrated for his smooth vocals and poetic genius. He was a central figure in the legendary Goodlyfe Crew alongside Weasel. Many contemporary Ugandan artists regard Radio as the benchmark for songwriting and vocal artistry, underscoring his lasting legacy in the nation’s musical landscape.
