Director Sean Byrne is gearing up for the release of his third feature film, Dangerous Animals, which is set to hit theaters on June 6. Following its theatrical premiere, viewers will also be able to stream it on the Shudder platform.
Having previously written films such as The Loved Ones and The Devil’s Candy, Byrne takes a different approach this time, collaborating with first-time screenwriter Nick Lepard. The film’s storyline revolves around Zephyr, a fearless surfer who is kidnapped by a shark-obsessed serial killer. As she finds herself trapped on his boat, her survival hinges on her ability to escape before becoming the victim of a sinister ritual designed to feed her to the lurking sharks. Interestingly, director Osgood Perkins is currently wrapping up another project based on a script by Lepard, a horror film titled Keeper.
The ensemble cast of Dangerous Animals features Jai Courtney, recognized for his role in Suicide Squad, alongside Hassie Harrison of Yellowstone fame and Josh Heuston from Dune: Prophecy. An impressive roster on the film’s IMDb page also includes Rob Carlton, Ella Newton, James Munn, Michael Goldman, Jon Quested, Liam Greinke, Ryland Pearson-McManus, Teah Fraser, Jess Tredinnick, and newcomer Sean Richard.
Production was a collaborative effort involving Chris Ferguson, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Mickey Liddell, Troy Lum, Andrew Mason, and Pete Shilaimon. The executive producer team features Fred Berger, Michael Glassman, Mehrdod Heydari, Marlaina Mah, Jacob Yakob, and Joseph Yakob, while Giorgia Stawaruk served as associate producer, with Sandy Stevens managing line production.
