Cynthia Erivo, celebrated for her remarkable performance in one of last year’s blockbuster films, is gearing up to embrace an astonishing 23 characters in a thrilling new stage adaptation of Dracula in the dynamic West End of London. According to a report by Deadline, this innovative production will feature Erivo in a one-woman show, where she embodies not just the legendary Dracula, but also a multitude of supporting roles. The creative minds behind this ambitious endeavor were previously involved in Sarah Snook’s acclaimed performances of The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Under the direction of Kip Williams, this adaptation marks the much-anticipated return of the Oscar-nominated actress to the stage. It will be her first performance since she enchanted audiences as Celie in the Tony Award-winning version of The Color Purple. Erivo concluded her celebrated run in New York back in January 2017. A proud graduate of the distinguished Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, she initially made her mark as Celie in London before sharpening her craft through various theatrical productions across the UK, eventually bringing her talents back to the US stage.
Meanwhile, excitement builds for the upcoming sequel to Wicked, titled Wicked: For Good, which is set to premiere on November 15, 2025. Jonathan Bailey, who captivates as the charming Prince Fiyero, is already generating buzz ahead of the festive season. He shared insights with IndieWire about his evolving perception of the world inspired by Gregory Maguire’s novel, eagerly anticipating the thrilling moments in store for fans.
“I believe we have a deeper understanding of the world and its workings now,” Bailey mentioned enthusiastically. “I’m particularly excited about the tonal shifts. The story becomes richer and more intricate, yet it retains that lively spirit of hope, joy, and resilience—elements we cherish about Elphaba’s journey. I genuinely can’t wait to bring this to life.”
Alongside her theatrical projects, Erivo has passionately expressed her ambition to portray Storm in a reboot of the X-Men franchise. She emphasized her desire to explore the multidimensional aspects of Ororo Munroe, suggesting that there remains much to uncover about her character. “I am truly eager to take on Storm,” she boldly stated. “It might seem trivial, but I believe we haven’t fully appreciated her greatness or the deep-seated struggles she faces. I envision a storytelling approach where we can genuinely delve into that.”
