Cage reprises his role as Spider-Noir, embodying an “aging, down-on-his-luck detective navigating the harsh realities of 1930s New York, while confronting the ghosts of his past as the city’s only superhero.” Fans familiar with the character will recall Cage’s exceptional voice performance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which has set a high bar for this forthcoming series. The supporting cast is just as thrilling, featuring Brendan Gleeson as the sinister mob boss, Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Abraham Popoola playing a World War I veteran, Jack Huston in the role of a loyal bodyguard, and Li Jun Li as a glamorous Manhattan nightclub singer.
Additionally, there’s further excitement brewing among fans! Lukas Haas, who portrays a sidekick to Gleeson’s character, has hinted that the series could be released in both black-and-white and color. He remarked, “We shot it with monitors set to black-and-white, giving it an authentic vibe that really transported me. I would watch the monitor, often believing I was observing vintage footage, not realizing it was live capture. The creative team excelled with filters, encapsulating the essence of true 1930s cinema. The writing captivates, and with Nic’s brilliance, I’m eager to see the final product!”
It was confirmed during Amazon’s Upfront presentation that viewers will indeed experience Spider-Noir in both striking black-and-white and rich color, adding an intriguing dimension to the viewing experience.
