Get ready for an extraordinary show! Jude Law and Andrew Garfield are set to star as the iconic Las Vegas illusionists Siegfried and Roy in the new limited series titled Wild Things, which will be available on Apple TV+.
This ambitious eight-episode drama draws from the popular Apple podcast Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy. The show will be brought to life by John Hoffman, recognized for his work on Only Murders in the Building, who will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Jude Law will portray Siegfried Fischbacher, while Andrew Garfield will take on the role of Roy Uwe Horn. Production is slated to commence this fall, and excitement is already on the rise!
The producers have hinted at a gripping plot: a “thrilling exploration of the bond between two of the greatest magician-showmen, who, along with their cherished white tigers, work to transform Las Vegas into a family-friendly destination. This duo blurs the lines of reality and illusion, both in their personal lives and on stage, until a tragic occurrence alters their story, unveiling a mystery wrapped around their final unforgettable performance in Las Vegas.”
Siegfried and Roy enchanted audiences around the globe with their mesmerizing animal-inspired magic shows, featuring their beloved white lions and tigers. At one point, they were the top-earning entertainers in Las Vegas until an unfortunate incident in 2003 when Roy was attacked by a massive 400-pound white tiger named Mantacore. The life-altering event left him partially paralyzed and led to the end of their celebrated careers in 2010. Tragically, Roy passed away in 2020 at 75 years old, followed by Siegfried in 2021 at the age of 82.
Interestingly, a biopic about their fascinating lives was in development nearly a decade ago, initially under the direction of Philipp Stolzl (The Physician). However, the project changed hands to Michael Herbig (A Thousand Lines) but ultimately did not come to fruition.
Jude Law is also set to star in Eden, a suspense-filled thriller directed by the renowned Ron Howard. The film revolves around an unsolved mystery on a secluded Galapagos island, highlighting the extremes people will go to in pursuit of happiness. Keep an eye out for its release on August 22nd. Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield will soon draw audiences into the thrilling narrative of Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt, where Julia Roberts plays a college professor caught in a storm of secrets surrounding an accusation made by a star pupil against a colleague. This intense drama is set to arrive in theaters on October 10th.
