If you didn’t catch this event, you’ve only yourself to blame! Anne Kansiime’s Comedy Grill—the first of its kind in Uganda—brought together the finest minds in Kampala on a dazzling Friday night to mark a decade of her incredible career.
Hosted by Talent-Africa and set against the lush backdrop of the Sheraton Hotel Gardens, the Comedy Grill was an explosion of laughter, sharp wit, and cheeky roasting. Guests were elegantly photographed and welcomed with vibrant Uganda Waragi Lemon & Ginger cocktails, a delightful pairing for the humorous feast that was about to unfold.
Before the main event kicked off, the talented Daniel Omara stepped onto the stage, warming up the audience with a brief yet hilarious stand-up that hinted at the humorous delight waiting just around the corner.
The vibrant energy was further amplified by the charismatic MC pair, Tuwangye Richard and Deedan Muyiira, as they welcomed the remarkable “Grill Chefs” to the stage.
The night boasted an impressive roster of roasters, combining familiar comedic stars with emerging talents, including Salvador, Madrat and Chico, Nana Kagga, GNL Zamba, Gaetano Kaggwa, Dr. Miria Matembe, Prim Asiimwe, and Skylanta. Each performer brought their unique flair to the stage, showcasing the rich tapestry of Ugandan comedic talent.
During the festivities, Hillary Baguma, the Brand Manager for Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries, expressed her sentiments about the event: “Witnessing such incredible talent unite was truly heartwarming. As Uganda Waragi Lemon and Ginger, we take pride in contributing to this unforgettable evening that genuinely reflects our Ugandan spirit.”
Anne Kansiime made an unforgettable entrance, draped in a stunning pink gown adorned with floral motifs. With a perfect blend of humor and grace, she embraced the playful jabs thrown her way as she took her seat, ready for the roast to begin.
GNL Zamba, the first Grill chef to take the stage, playfully targeted his fellow comedians and Kansiime, sparking laughter with his witty digs. As each performer unleashed their comedic brilliance, the intensity of laughter only grew, leaving the audience in delightful fits of giggles.
When the moment finally arrived for Kansiime to take the mic, she exchanged playful barbs with the roasters while delivering a heartfelt tribute to her guests, the performers, sponsors, and everyone who has been part of her inspiring journey over the past decade.
As the evening drew to a close, the atmosphere buzzed with an exhilarating sense of joy, leaving attendees with a taste of a vibrant new chapter in Uganda’s comedy landscape.
