Attention, Doom enthusiasts – exciting details about Doom: The Dark Ages have surfaced ahead of its launch next week!
According to a post on the Gaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit, some lucky fans have received their copies ahead of the May 15th release date, leading to a flood of information regarding the storyline, menus, combat mechanics, an arsenal of weapons, and the menacing creatures players will face.
“Hey guys, I got the [Collector’s Edition] on the 8th and just completed this incredible game, what a wild ride! Spoilers ahead, so proceed at your own risk,” one player shared, attaching a plethora of screenshots teeming with spoilers.
This early shipment has also brought to light another detail; it appears that even with a physical disc, PS5 users will need to connect to the internet to download the entire game before diving in.
As confirmed by ppe.pl, the “disc for Doom: The Dark Ages simply contains the data required to initiate a download from the internet. Consequently, PS5 players eager to embody the Doom Slayer will need to download over 80 GB—the entire game size.”
“Complete waste of resources,” responded one commenter. “This is just absurd.”
In Nova Play’s review of Doom: The Dark Ages, Chris D. awarded it four out of five stars, stating: “The gameplay is straightforward, and joyfully so. You’re in control of a formidable hero, pitted against an array of powerful foes, and your goal is to dispatch them all. Everyone knows their role, and it’s wonderfully satisfying.”
