On Friday night, Sheraton Gardens transformed into a whirlwind of laughter and camaraderie, celebrating a decade of the beloved Anne Kansiime at the mesmerizing Comedy Grill. Guests arrived in droves, welcomed with an exquisite red-carpet entrance that set the mood for an unforgettable evening. As they mingled, the delightful Uganda Waragi Lemon & Ginger cocktails flowed, perfectly complementing the playful skits that were about to unfold.
As the highlight of the night began, the humor was expertly ignited by comedian Daniel Omara, who captivated the crowd with a brief but fiery stand-up performance. He expertly teased everyone, setting the stage for the riotous roasts to come. The evening came alive with the introduction of a stellar “Grill Chef” lineup, led by the charismatic MC duo, Tuwangye Richard and Deedan Muyiira.
The night featured an impressive array of talent, including familiar faces like Salvado, Madrat & Chiko, Nana Kagga, GNL Zamba, Gaetano Kaggwa, Dr. Miria Matembe, Prim Asiimwe, and Skylanta. Each brought their own flair, showcasing the incredible depth of Ugandan comedy that kept everyone in stitches.
Hillary Baguma, the Brand Manager of Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries, echoed the sentiment of joy that filled the air, stating, “The gathering of such incredible talent was truly something special. As the face of Uganda Waragi Lemon and Ginger, we take pride in contributing to this remarkable night of fun that truly embodies our Ugandan spirit.”
Making a stunning appearance in a floral pink gown, Anne Kansiime gracefully embraced the evening’s playful teasing, taking her place among her roasters with a warm smile. The atmosphere crackled with comedic energy as seasoned hip-hop artist GNL Zamba was the first grill chef to deliver some light-hearted barbs at both Kansiime and his peers. With each set, the night grew in fervor and hilarity, leaving everyone in stitches.
When Anne took the mic, her laughter rang out, and she acknowledged the good-natured ribbing with heartwarming remarks, quipping, “You’ve let me make a fool of myself, and now my heart is full.”
