Get ready, gamers! Dead by Daylight is marking its ninth year in style with the introduction of two thrilling collaborations: Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Witcher.
First up is the spine-chilling Springtrap, the notorious villain from FNAF. He will join the ranks as the game’s latest Killer in the upcoming anniversary chapter, making his debut as a playable character. This is a historic moment, as fans have eagerly awaited the chance to embody Springtrap’s devious persona.
In an exciting twist, additional details regarding the Killer’s gameplay mechanics will be shared during an upcoming livestream. Players will also be able to get their hands on a special Springtrap Legendary Outfit, inspired by the Yellow Rabbit version from the recent Blumhouse film adaptation. This outfit is further enhanced by the voice and likeness of actor Matthew Lillard.
Moreover, a creepy new map themed around the infamous Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is on the way, promising players an immersive and haunting experience in an environment that perfectly captures the unsettling atmosphere of the FNAF universe.
But that’s not all! The world of The Witcher is also entering Dead by Daylight with a series of stylish outfits based on its beloved characters. Vittorio Toscano will don Geralt’s Legendary Outfit, while players can also expect outfits inspired by Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, and Eredin to be available from June 3rd.
Rose Li, product director of Dead by Daylight, expressed excitement for the Witcher collection, stating, “Our favorite is, of course, Geralt’s Legendary Outfit for Vittorio Toscano. This will allow players to embody the essence of The White Wolf, complete with unique lobby animations and all-new voice lines recorded by none other than the original voice actor, Doug Cockle.”
This big reveal took place at the recent PAX East anniversary celebration, where Behaviour Interactive reiterated its intention to improve player experiences. Earlier, the studio announced a brief postponement of several updates, extending their timelines by three weeks to focus on bug fixes and enhance community feedback.
Looking ahead, exciting updates are on the horizon. Players can anticipate new spectator options for custom matches and the ability to play while queuing for events. Moreover, gameplay will see adjustments in map and key item functionalities, alongside upgraded anti-cheat measures. The team is also committed to tackling persistent concerns like camping, slugging, and tunneling.
In a truly thrilling development set for 2026, Behaviour Interactive plans to launch a new chapter created in collaboration with the player community. This interactive “Choose Your Own Adventure” style feature will allow fans to vote on key elements, introducing a new Killer and Survivor that reflect the desires of the community.
Lastly, let’s not forget the recent announcement of a new expansion for the Dead by Daylight board game, which set to introduce fresh Killers and Survivors, further expanding this already expansive universe.
