Since stepping into the director’s chair for her 2010 feature debut, Africa United, Debs Paterson has carved a significant niche for herself in the television realm. Her directorial prowess has graced popular series like Doc, Halo, Willow, The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, A Discovery of Witches, Domina, For Life, Harlots, and Strike Back. Plus, let’s not forget her captivating work on the documentary The Skywalker Legacy. Exciting news is brewing, as Paterson gears up for her second narrative feature, a thrilling zombie action horror film titled Zero Protocol. Even more electrifying is the fact that Rebecca Hall, known for her standout role in Godzilla vs. Kong, has signed on to shine in this chilling project.
Written by Dan Hall, famed for projects like The Silent Hour, Zero Protocol promises high stakes and gripping tension. The story follows an NYPD commissioner grappling with the chaos of a city-wide zombie epidemic that’s spiraling out of control, only to face the unimaginable: her teenage daughter is caught right in the heart of the danger zone.
This cinematic venture is being brought to life by the creative minds at Imaginarium Productions, founded by the talented Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish. The financing is superbly managed by Anton, who will also oversee the film’s global rights, and they’ll be sharing U.S. rights representation with WME Independent. Expect a sales launch at the much-anticipated Marche du Film. The producing team includes Will Tennant and Jonathan Cavendish for Imaginarium, while executive producers are Patricia, Rebecca Hall, Dan Hall, and the brilliant duo of Sebastien Raybaud and Callum Grant from Anton, alongside Serkis and Phil Robertson from Imaginarium. Filming is slated to commence later this year, and fans are already buzzing with anticipation.
Debs Paterson expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Zero Protocol is an incredibly exciting fusion of technical and emotional filmmaking. I’m so thrilled to be working with Imaginarium’s world-class team and the truly extraordinary Rebecca Hall to bring Dan’s gripping script to life.” Producer Will Tennant added to the excitement: “Dan has written an absolutely thrilling and terrifying story, and we couldn’t ask for a greater director than Debs to weave together the script’s big set pieces with grounded emotional drama. We are delighted that Rebecca Hall has come on board; I couldn’t think of anyone better to guide us through a zombie apocalypse.”
